SUSTAINABILITY

Here at Home Farm Gin, we're deeply committed to doing our part in the fight against climate change. We believe it's crucial for businesses, large and small, to take responsibility and actively work towards a more sustainable future.

Transport

Fuel Efficient Vehicle

We use a new, highly economical van equipped with the latest technology designed to minimize emissions. This helps us to reduce our carbon footprint when making deliveries and sourcing materials.

Remote Working

At Home Farm, our distillery is also literally our home. This eliminates the need for daily commuting, which not only saves us money but also significantly reduces our carbon emissions. This contributes to a greener environment by decreasing the number of vehicles on the road.

Packaging

Packaging

We use easily recyclable glass bottles and pack them in cardboard boxes with scrunched paper for protection. Other than the security seal (a legal requirement), our branding and labeling is plastic free.

Returns

We encourage you to return your empty glass bottle back to the distillery and get a discount on your refill.

New Initiatives

We are introducing household-recyclable foil pouches which help to reduce the carbon footprint of shipping our glass bottles. Simply keep the bottle you have and refill it.

Summary

These measures ensure that all our packaging is as environmentally friendly and easily recyclable as possible, whilst maintaining the quality and freshness of our products.

Office Practices

Low-Carbon Heating

Our distillery is heated using a wood-burner, providing a low-carbon alternative to using fossil fuels. We source all our seasoned firewood sustainably from the local area, supporting local forestry and reducing our reliance on non-renewable energy sources.

Energy-Efficient Lighting

We've replaced traditional light bulbs with LED lighting throughout the distillery. LED bulbs consume significantly less energy and have a longer lifespan, which helps to conserve energy and reduce waste.

Recycling Programme

At the distillery, we have implemented a comprehensive recycling system, with dedicated bins for plastics, cans, and paper. This ensures that waste is disposed of properly and materials are recycled whenever possible.

Ingredients & Materials

Local Sourcing

We prioritize purchasing all our materials from the closest possible outlets, with a focus on supporting local businesses in Norfolk. This reduces transportation emissions and supports the local economy.

Waste Reduction

We compost all our waste botanicals on-site, turning them into a valuable resource for local gardens and reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill.

Plastic-Free Packaging

We are committed to minimizing plastic use in our packaging. With the exception of the tamper-proof seal (which is a legal requirement), we ensure that all our packaging is plastic-free.

We're proud of the steps we have taken to create a sustainable gin distillery. We are committed to continuous improvement and will continue to seek out new ways to reduce our environmental impact.
